New Post: What doesn’t scare me about Siri
Last week my two year old droid phone was about to die and the timing was bad because I was traveling. When I am traveling my office is my backpack, my computer and my phone. When you have multiple appointments in multiple locations, a phone is a good thing to have.
So, I emailed our telecommunications department at Bethel, and Paula, who is one of my favorite people at Bethel, got back to me and let me know she had a slightly used IPHONE that someone had turned in, and that I could turn in my phone and pick up the phone. I was happy because there was no charge for the phone, and I just switched to a Mac powerbook so I thought I might as well go full Apple.
So I am still in the process of figuring out my new phone, etc. Then, I read a post about why Siri (the personal assistant included in my new phone) scares people. The post was generally about people over-multitasking and never having any down time.
Look, I am not going to use Siri when I go for a run. I am not going to use Siri when I am locked into some other activity. I have enough boundaries to not let technology take over my life.
Technology does not scare me, lack of boundaries does.
